20-year-old Maryland man accused of child pornography

A 20-year-old Maryland man is now facing serious criminal charges stemming from a child pornography investigation instigated by authorities several months ago. Authorities received a complaint in Sept. 2012 that ultimately resulted in the man being accused of child pornography. The investigation apparently took several months to complete as police officials needed to obtain appropriate search warrants, recover property such as a laptop computer and obtain other evidence.

According to those officials, the man’s laptop contained various images of children that were of a pornographic nature. They further believed that the man knew several of the children personally. Some of the other images, on the other hand, appeared to have been downloaded from the internet and depicted children not necessarily known to the accused individual on a firsthand basis.

Although the investigation began months ago, the man was only recently arrested in early April. Officers with the Frederick, Maryland Police Department took the man into custody at that time. They charged the man with the manufacture, possession and solicitation of child pornography. These are extremely serious charges that could result in harsh penalties in the event of a conviction.

This Maryland man who has been accused of child pornography would likely do well to fully understand all of the charges and potential penalties he faces. American law demands that every single accused individual be considered innocent until prosecutors prove their doubt beyond a reasonable doubt. Based upon the facts of each case, every individual must decide whether to vigorously fight the charges or attempt to reach a plea deal with authorities which could possibly result in a more favorable outcome.
