Man faces weapons charge in relation to robbery

When an individual is charged with a serious crime, a chain of events begins that can have a number of different outcomes. For those in Maryland facing criminal charges, the manner in which they respond can make a world of difference in the eventual result. When one’s freedom is on the line, an aggressive legal defense is the best course of action. Such may be the case for one man who was recently arrested in connection with an area robbery, and now faces drug charges and a weapons charge, in addition to an accusation of robbery.

The 35-year-old man was arrested at his home, after police obtained a search-and-seizure warrant for the residence. He was suspected of being involved in a bank robbery that took place at Queenstown Bank in mid-December. At that time, a man entered the bank, jumped across the counter and removed cash from multiple teller drawers before exiting the property. There is no word on how police connected the man to that event, or what evidence was presented in order to obtain the warrant.

While at the property, police recovered an unspecified volume of marijuana and items of drug paraphernalia. In addition, a firearm was found at the home. As a result, the man sought in connection to the bank robbery was also charged with possession of both the drugs and a firearm. Due to a prior felony conviction, the man is unable to lawfully possess a firearm.

As this man prepares his defense against these charges, his legal team will likely focus on what evidence police used to connect the man with the bank robbery. In addition, it is unclear whether the gun in question was found on his person or was simply located within the home, which could come into play in response to the weapons charge. These are all serious offenses in the state of Maryland, and creating a solid defense strategy will be important if the accused wishes to obtain a favorable outcome in court.
